Objectives

Major Design Options

SIP Components

1. Web page with mailing list and wiki for document sharing and comments - will be provided by Carol/IIT
2. Widget UA interface design - student
3. Business logic for in Web browser SIP UA - student
4. Business logic in Web SIP feature server - student
5. SIP XML script example for basic 2-party call - Alan
6. Metadata design that include SDP-like RVT codec profiles - student
7. IETF SIP standards support - Alan and Henry

Media Components

We discussed several media protocol options
1. Simple UDP as in RFC 3550. Requires RTP stack in UA and for the Web feature server.
2. UDP only, similar to Skype. RTP-like functionality as XML scripts in the application in the UA only.
3. Media security for the above options 1 and 2 or delegate media security to HIP
There was agreement not to provide media security initially in the project.

HIP

We discussed IIT should look at the online docs and code from the Helsinki Institute of Technology
Invite for possible cooperation? (Invite to the IIT VoIP conference?)
Henry can provide some contacts.

Authentication

There was agreement on these points
1. User to user authentication will use Web technology and assure user choice and control of authentication options
2. Protocol authentication, such as for SIP, media and HIP is distinct and independent of user to user authentication
